Oct, 2025 - Latest news December 2024: We are now taking bookings for Summer 2025!

The Alta Via 1 is one of the most famous high-level routes in the Alps, taking you on a journey through the heart of the stunning Italian Dolomites with its extraordinary limestone peaks. Our 10-stage guided walking holiday showcases some of the best walking in the region with picture-perfect views, comfy huts, and delicious food throughout.

We take on the full route over 9 stages beginning with a night in Cortina before catching a bus to Lago di Braies and the start of the Alta Via 1 trail. From Lago di Braies, the route takes to the high mountains, with nights spent in charming mountain huts. The route passes the dramatic formations of Lagazuoi and Tofane in the North. The route continues to the South and the scenery gets wilder as you approach the more remote sections of the trail around the Civatta and Schiara massifs. There are 8 cosy hut nights on this trip, each offering hearty Italian food, a comfy bed, and the opportunity to watch the sun set over the mountains. The trail ends at La Pissa where you will catch a bus to Belluno for your final night and a celebratory meal!

Being a guided trip, you will be accompanied by one of our fantastic International Mountain Leaders (IML). Our IMLs are fully qualified mountain professionals, allowing you to relax and enjoy the walking whilst benefiting from their extensive knowledge of the mountains! Our guides have vast experience in managing groups on the hill, which helps facilitate a full and challenging trip for each and every person. Please do ask us for more details of how the trip works.
